Little Crown For The Girl and Her Dragon

The Girl that wears this crown,
I designed this little crown for the girl in the photo. She stands about 4 inches tall. She is the best friend to the Small But Mighty Dragon She is the girl that doesn't need saving by the Little Boy Knight. She is also the girl that pulled the sword out of the stone in this story.

 Scroll down this page for the Crown pattern.

Supplies:
worsted weight acrylic yarn . I used Red Heart Super Saver in grey
4mm hook
blunt end yarn needle for sewing
scissors
2 bobby pins to attach the crown
Optional Supplies
glue and glitter
Beads and a needle and thread to attach them

Abbreviations:
st = stitch
sc = single crochet
ch1 = chain one
sl st = slip stitch
f/o = finish off

Special notes:

The first crown I made fit around the head of the girl. If you would prefer that size, follow all the same steps as given below but start of with a chain that fits around the head, making sure the ends of the chain touch each other. The size of crown is easily adjustable.

Crown:
1) ch 20
2) starting in 2nd ch, 1sc in each ch (19) ch1 and turn
3) skip ch, 1sc in first st then ch3, *1sc into bottom of chain then sl st next 3st*, 1sc into the last sl st you made then ch3 and repeat from * to *
f/o leaving a tail for sewing. Sew ends together, overlapping just a little bit, with the one end that has no spike on the inside of the crown then weave in yarn tails.

Optional:
If you want a glittery crown brush clear drying glue over the entire outer surface of the crown then roll in glitter. Let dry completely then trim off any yarn hairs for a smoother look. You can also sew on beads for added decoration. I added one glass bead by sewing it in place using a sewing needle that fit through the bead and thread the same color as the crown.

How to attach the crown,
Push a bobby pin through the bottom  edge of the crown on each side, then place the crown to the top of the head with the bobby pins all the way up. When the crown is in the perfect spot, push each pin into the head.
