The basic pattern from head to foot is about 5.5 inches tall. The Wee Bits are a series of patterns where we use one body pattern but can make different characters just by changing the ears and tails and adding other parts.
UPDATE: Please note I have made a pattern name change from Wee Ones to Wee Bits. After I published the video tutorial with the name Wee Ones, I found a pattern series called the Wee Ones done with knitting. I don't feel right keeping a name that was already in use even if it was knitted so Wee Bits it is!
Koala
Bear, Frog and Bunny
Moose
Fox
Unicorn
Scroll down this page for the wee ones basic pattern.
Supplies:
Worsted weight yarn in any color. I used Red Heart Comfort.
for the same size wee ones as pictured use a 3.75 mm to a 4.0 mm hook
blunt end yarn needle for sewing
scissors
100% polyester stuffing
you can use felt, buttons, a french knot or paint eyes on. I used 7.5mm safety eyes that I glued in after the doll was done.
Please note that different animals will have the eyes placed on different rows. Some are in between the 7th and 8th row and some are in between the 8th and 9th row. All with 5 or 6 visible stitches holes between them.
Abbreviations:
st = stitch
sc = single crochet
hdc = half double crochet - used for thumbs only
ch1 = chain one
sl st = slip stitch
2tog = crochet 2 stitches together
f/o = finish off
In the video tutorial I show how to crochet each row, how to stuff and shape, and also how to sew the parts together. The video follows along with the order of the written pattern. Click here for the video.
Head and Body:
1) magic circle with 6sc (6)
2) 2sc in each st (12)
3) 1sc then 2sc in next st (18)
4) 1sc in next 2st then 2sc in next st (24)
5) 1sc in next 5st then 2sc in next st (28)
6-11) 1sc in each st for 6 rows
12) 1sc in next 5st then 2tog (24)
13) 1sc in next 2st then 2tog (18)
14) 1sc then 2tog (12)
15) 1sc then 2sc in next st (18)
16) 1sc in next 2st then 2sc in next st (24)
17-20) 1sc in each st for 4 rows
stuff head, shape while stuffing
21) 1sc in next 2st then 2tog (18)
22) 1sc then 2tog (12)
stuff body, make sure to stuff more into the head and neck area as needed.
23) 1sc in next 2st then 2tog (9)
f/o leaving a tail for sewing. Weave in and out of the remaining st and pull tight to close. Be sure to add in more stuffing as needed before you close the gap. Knot off and hide yarn tail in body.

Below are instructions for both a leg with a foot or a straight leg no foot. I've done this so those of you who find it too frustrating to decrease so close together can just make a leg with no decreases. The leg with the foot isn't difficult but if you're new to crochet you might find it too awkward to decrease in small rounds.
Legs With Feet:
1) magic circle with 6sc (6)
2) 2sc in each st (12)
3) 1sc in each st for 1 row
4) 2tog twice then 1sc in next 8st (10)
5) 2tog twice then 1sc in next 6st (8)
6-8) 1sc in each st for 3 rows
sl st and f/o leaving a tail for sewing. Stuff and shape foot. Use the back end of a pencil, push it into the heel and pull the front of the foot with your fingers. You should see more of a foot shape now. Stuff the foot, very lightly stuff the leg. View the video if you have troubles shaping the foot

1) magic circle with 7sc (7)
2-7) 1sc in each st for 6 rows
sl st next st and f/o leaving a tail for sewing. Stuff very lightly.
Arms:
1) magic circle with 6sc (6)
2-7) 1sc in each st for 6 rows
sl st next st and f/o and leave a tail for sewing. Do not stuff.
ASSEMBLY:
In the video tutorial the assembly section starts here
1) sew on the arms. The arms are right under the head, whip stitched around the 16th row.
2) sew the legs to the body. Pin both legs on first to make sure you are leaving room for the 2nd leg. You can remove the 2nd leg while you sew on the first. Please view the video if you have troubles with this part.

Now you are done the basic body you can make your own character or scroll back up to the top for the links to the patterns I have available.
I hope you enjoyed the pattern!
Why donating is important and my thank you here.
Are the instructions for the arms missing or am I simply not seeing them?
ReplyDeleteAlready did the rest. The instructions are well written and easy to understand. Thanks.
yes they are listed right under the optional instructions for the legs. Or right above the assembly section.
DeleteAnd thanks! I'm so glad you find the pattern easy to understand, that's what I strive for :)
DeleteArms:
1) magic circle or an adjustable loop with 6st (6)
2-7) 1sc in each st for 6 rows
sl st next st and f/o and leave a tail for sewing. Do not stuff.
Where are the ears that the eyes go in
DeleteThere they are! Thanks. :)

every time i try to access the video tutorial it takes me to a survey. i would really like to view the tutorial
ReplyDeletewhere are you clicking? I just clicked the video link and it went right to the video. The video is on youtube, it has an ad that you can skip after it plays for at least 5 seconds, the skip ad option is in the lower right corner of the screen. The video link you should be clicking is located just above the Head and Body section of the written pattern
DeleteI know this is an old post but, the mini surveys are YouTube & I have only ever been asked one question before it takes me to Sharon's vid.
DeleteI want to make one of these but in the size of a Little Bigfoot version, can you tell me which body is should use to make it that size please.
ReplyDeleteyou would have to adjust the parts to be the right size as well and that would make it a whole different pattern on it's own. You can use any one of the Bigfoot patterns. Scroll up and look to your right for the Label List, click on "Little Bigfoot" they'll all come up from there, or scroll to the top and type "Little Bigfoot" into the search bar
DeleteI'm making a couple of these for friends/family for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteLove this! Your awesome!!!! ;D
ReplyDeleteI'm a complete beginner to crochet (I learned yesterday) and this is my first project as its so adorable. My work so far actually looks really good, I'm up to row 20. My only problem is on the rows where decrease for the neck, there are gaps between some of the stitches. I know this was due to the yarn tension being too loose, but I was wondering if you had any suggestions on how to fix that without having to undo all my work. I was thinking about weaving yarn through the areas with holes. Would this work?
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the patterns & tutorials. I find them easy to comprehend and your voice is calming. I'm still a bit confused on counting stitches in a row, but getting there. Thanks again.
Visibly increase your tension on the row between the increasing and decreasing.
Deleteso sorry for late reply. If you are seeing gaps in your stitches when you decrease try the invisible decrease by crocheting in the front loops only when you crochet two together. I know it's a year late but hope that helps!
DeleteAdoro seus padrões muitÃssimo obrigada pela doação de seus trabalhos maravilhosos, sua voz é musica para os ouvidos bjs em seu coração linda Sharon.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for this and all of your amazing patterns. I finished the head and body tonight and will do arms and legs tomorrow. I think the really fun part will be showing my daughter all of the options and letting her pick what I turn the basic body into. So awesome and very much appreciated.
ReplyDeleteHi I finish all in 10 minutes only its awesome and easy
DeleteHi sharon! First I'd like to say that I love your patterns and I thank you fit sharing then for free! Next I'd like to ask you a question. I am converting your wee bits body into a Teletubby. I would like to post the instructions on how to make it into a Teletubby on my blog. I will not post any instructions on how to make the body but will post a link to your blog. Would that be okay?
ReplyDeletefor sure.
DeleteThank you for the kind words, I appreciate that :)
Have fun!
Hi Sharon, I just wanted to say your channel and
ReplyDeleteBlog are amazing I had tried to make amigurumi using other channels but it was really hard to follow now I've made Tons and tons and tons and given them away as presents to my family I have also managed to convert some designs into Lovey's and teddy bears holding blankets
Hello Sharon! I love, love, love all the patterns that you have to offer. I have made several and the teddy bear has to be one of my favorites. I like to make that bear in pink or blue and give it at baby showers. The mothers all love them. I have also made your angel bear and given it to some couples that have experienced what you niece experiences. They were all moved to tears when I gave them and I was blessed by them. At this time I am making the unicorn for my cousin who I will be visiting in October. I hope she loves it as much as I do. Once again thank you for all your hard work and for allowing us to experience the joy of making your creations. God bless!
ReplyDeleteHello i just want to know if i will be able to make these using a little thicker yarn with a bigger hook? Thank you so much for your time and for these awesome patterns!!
ReplyDeleteabsolutely!
DeleteYou're welcome and thanks :)
Hi Sharon, how do you double the size of your basic body pattern? Can I repeat each round twice? Loving your easy to follow patterns both on video and the written ones. Thank you for sharing them xx
ReplyDeleteI show how to right here Easy Way To Enlarge Amigurumi
DeleteHi Sharon I'm a beginner and I'm having trouble making the magic ring and holding my yarn properly at the same time. Any suggestions?
ReplyDeleteHey Queen Lowe there are some really amazing video tutorials on Utube on how to make the magic ring and the adjustable loop!!! Try jayda in stitches she does an easy way to make it very easy for beginners also crochet crowd has an entire series on beginner crochet tutorials that you will learn a great deal from I'm new as well and these are the ones that helped me most also check and see if Sharon has them she very well could have them on her Utube channel good luck stick with it after the annoying part of learning is over you'll love to crochet lol
DeleteHi Sharon I'm soooooo so in love with your adorable lil characters ALL OF THEM!!! When I read about u in your blog I was floored to learn that u have been crocheting only since 2010!!! You are a natural as anyone can see I thought honestly you have been doing this your entire life it's so awesome and your parents so impeccable and your tutorials are so clear and u are able to see exactly which stitch your going into and u don't over explain anything u explain to the point but well enough for any beginner to clearly understand!!! I appreciate u sharing your designs so freely it's such a great thing!!!! I have one question which is probably written somewhere I just can't seem to find it lol.... are the wee bits body the same as your little Bigfoot body patterns or are they different I looked for a video tutorial on how to crochet the body but ONKY found where u had to shorten the video due to life which I completely understand I was just curious again thank you for all your hard work and sharing the love of crochet with the world I'm looking forward to hearing back from u until then happy hooking!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteawe, thank you so much for the kind words, that really means a lot!
DeleteThese guys are the same style as the LBF but different size. What video were you looking for exactly? I have a number of full length LBF videos on youtube.
I also have a number of full length videos for these wee bits, the different characters.
I can leave you a link if I knew which one.
Looking forward to your reply!
I left a comment yesterday but I think it was too large lol anyway are your wee bits body the same as the little big foot body!? Your patterns are absolutely THE BEST happy hooking
ReplyDeleteno, it wasn't too large. I answered you. Scroll up here in the comments :)
DeleteHow long did it take you no distractions

ReplyDeleteThank you for the amazing pattern! Any chance you could create clothes to fit the dolls? I'm making mine into little dolls for my girls. Or if anyone knows how I could go about making my own clothing to fit them?
ReplyDeletegood idea!
Deletethankyou so much for your patterns. I have learnt to crochet thanks to you and now have created a class teddy for my students from this pattern. One family loved it so much they have asked for their own one! Thanks heaps! Would love to know if you have any suggestions on how to make clothes for this one!
ReplyDeleteHas anyone turned these little cuties into dollies? If so, could I see a picture?
ReplyDeleteQuick tip: I use a paperclip as a marker, and when i'm doing something where I have to single crotchet a row with only 8 stitches, it doesn't get in my way
ReplyDeleteI named my shark Bluetooth, he has blue teeth, and he works at Bluefang...
ReplyDeleteSharon, first let me say, how well you give instructions. They, as well, as the video tutorials are done extremely well.
ReplyDeleteI make quite a few of your wee bit animals to place in the Samaritan Purse Christmas Child shoeboxes. They are just the right size. Assembling the parts to the animals is quite time consuming. It would be extremely helpful if the pattern consisted of joined legs, thus eliminatting the sewing on of each leg. You are so clever, and i am not. Would it be possible to come up with a way to incorporate the legs into the body. Thank you for your concideration.
Thank you very much for sharing!, the only problem I have is that I'm left handed and have trouble following up. Which video you recommend on learning how to do the magic ring for a left handed?
ReplyDeletethere's a bunch on youtube, it would just be the matter of finding one to your liking. Search "magic ring left handed" A whole list of videos will come up for you. Best of luck!
DeleteHello Sharon, I wanted to let you know how wonderful I think your designs are and how easy it is to follow your instructions on youtube. I have made the Wee Bits Bear and your Dress Me Bunny which look so cute. I have made them for my nephew and my niece. Thank you for your designs and sharing them with us. Ever since I learned to crochet I have wanted to learn to make stuffed animals and with your help I was able to accomplish that goal. Thank you so much. -Allison
ReplyDeleteGreat things you’ve always shared with us. Just keep writing this kind of posts. The time which was wasted in traveling for tuition now it can be used for studies. Thanks bamboo sheet sets
ReplyDeleteHello does it matter what weight wool I use? What would you recommend?
ReplyDeleteI used Red Heart Comfort yarn as stated in the supplies list, scroll up if you missed that section. It's a worsted weight yarn. You can use any weight you desire, different weight yarns and hook sizes will just alter the finished size of the amigurumi. Thanks for asking!
Deletefor the ears I did one blue and one pink. is that okay?
ReplyDeleteI am looking to learn how to make a pepe frog was wondering if you could help me...
ReplyDeleteI used your moose pattern and altered it to come up with a zebra and giraffe ornaments for a customer
