Video Crochet Coin Purse Trinket Bag Rosary Pouch

Coraline's Messenger Bag,
Here is the little messenger bag that I had designed for my Coraline pattern.

This is crocheted all one piece aside from the handle. It can be used as a coin purse, trinket bag or Rosary pouch. Use as party favors or hang on the Christmas tree with a little gift inside. 

This is a great project for using up left over yarn and can be completed in under 30 minutes.

Supplies used:
3.7mm hook
any color worsted weight medium #4
yarn needle
bead or button for the closure or a snap closure

Abbreviations:
ch = chain
st = stitch
sc = single
hdc = 1 half double crochet
BLO = back loops only
FLO = front loops only
f/o = finish off

Purse:
1) ch11
2) starting with the 2nd ch from the hook, 1sc across (10)
3-7) 1hdc in each st for 5 rows (ch2, turn and start with the 3rd st from the hook at the start of every row)
8) ch1 and turn, starting with the 2nd ch from the hook, 1sc in each st (10)
9) ch1 and turn, starting with the 2nd loop from the hook 1sc in each of the BLO
10) ch1 and turn, starting with the 2nd st from the hook, 1sc in each st (10)
11-15) 1hdc in each st for 5 rows (ch2, turn and start with the 3rd st from the hook at the start of every row)
16) ch1 and turn, starting with the 2nd st from the hook, 1sc in each st (10)
17) ch1 and turn, starting with the 2nd loop from the hook 1sc in each of the FLO
18-19) 1hdc in each st for 2 rows (ch2, turn and start with the 3rd st from the hook at the start of every row)
20) ch1 and turn, starting with the 2nd st from the hook, 2tog then 1sc in next 6st then 2tog (8)
21) ch1 and turn, starting with the 2nd st from the hook, 1sc in each st (8)
f/o and weave in yarn tails


Handle:
1) ch50 f/o and leave a long enough tail to sew the handle in on both sides.

place chain along the inside edge of bag as pictured and whip stitch the 2 edges of the bag together and at the same time you will be sewing the handle in place. Start at the bottom edge of the bag and work your way up towards the top of the bag. You can weave the yarn tail across the front of the purse then whip stitch the other side just as you did for the first part. Knot off when done and weave the yarn tail in.


Closure:
you can leave the purse as is or sew in a snap closure, or add a loop to the front flap of the purse and a button on the front of the purse. You could also use Velcro.
