Miniature Christmas Hat and Magical Scarf For Hunny Bear

Hat and Scarf for Hunny Bear,
This little hat was designed specifically for the Miniature Hunny Bear (bear pattern here). It has 2 ear holes and a magical matching scarf!

Video Tutorial:
The video will get you through rows 1-4 then rows 9-10 of the hat. I also show how to trim the hat and how to make a pom pom using your fingers. I also show how to crochet both rows of the scarf. The video is here

Supplies:
same brand and weight yarn you used to make the Hunny Bear
same hook size you used to make the bear with
White yarn for trim
blunt end yarn needle for sewing
scissors

Abbreviations:
st = stitch
sc = single crochet
ch = chain
FLO = front loops only
f/o = finish off

How to read the rows that work  in the round: Mark off the last stitch and move that marker at the end of each row. Each row has a sequence. Example: 1sc then 2sc in next st means repeat that sequence 1sc then 2sc in next st followed by 1sc then 2sc in next st over and over to the end of that particular row. Some rows have instructions that take you right to the marker. The number inside the parentheses ( ~ ) is the number of stitches you should have at the end of that particular row.

10) 1sc in each st *when working over the chains of 4, skip over the last V in the chain and sc into the first st after it. (21)
sl st next st and f/o weave in yarn tail.

Trim: with white
pull yarn through a front loop of row 10  in the back of the hat and ch1 then 1sc in the remaining FLO, sl st into the loop you ch1 in and f/o. Weave in yarn tail.

Not suitable for small children,
A pompom is not safe for small children due to the strands being pulled out if tugged on making it a choking hazard. You could go through the extra trouble of adding glue in the pompom, I've heard about that being done but I've never done it myself.

Pom Pom   NOTE: The pictures below are from bigger pom pom I made. Follow the same steps to make a smaller pom pom using 2 fingers instead of 3.

Wrap yarn around 2 fingers about 30-35 times. Carefully remove the bundle from your fingers, tie of the center and pull tight, as tight as you can get it without breaking the yarn. Cut through all the loops, careful not to cut the tie off strings as those will be used to tie the pom pom to the hat.  Trim until you have the shape and look of a pom pom. Tie to the tip of the hat.

Magical Scarf:

1) ch37
2) starting in the 3rd ch, 1hdc in each ch (35)
f/o and weave in yarn tails

How to drape the scarf,
Place the scarf on your bear with  row 2 facing up (you can see the V's of the row very clearly). If placed this way then it folds over and stays put, no having to play with it, tie it or pin it. It's a magical scarf!
