Parts of this pattern were designed by Melissa Trenado, and she was kind enough to share the modifications she made to my Little Bigfoot Bear pattern to make this lion which turned out super! See Melissa's facebook page here

Now for that beautiful mane! Designed by Melissa and I just love how it looks! Choose the color you want for the mane. Pull the color through a stitch on the front/side of the lion's head, ch10 then single crochet into the head right next to where you started. You should now have a loop. ch10 again and repeat. Keep going around until you reach the place you started and finish off, hide the tails inside the head. see photos below.

Now for this part, I thought of this step after I put my first row in and I think it fills in the front real nice. ch5 and go all the way around right in front of the row you just put in. finish off and hide tails inside head.

Do the same for the back of the head. (ch 10, and repeat) I just went around and around until the back of the head was completely filled in.

TAIL:
(designed by Melissa)
1) magic circle with 5sc (5)
2-11) 1sc in each st for 10 rows
12) sl st and finish off leaving a long tail for sewing.

With the same color you used for the mane, insert into end edge of tail, ch6 and repeat steps you did for the mane until you have the look you want. Finish off and hide yarn tails into tail itself. Sew tail to body
