st = stitch
sc = single crochet
2tog = 2 stitches together
ch1 = chain one
sl st = slip stitch

Special notes: I worked in continuous rounds with a 3.75mm hook and worsted weight yarn, medium #4. Have any questions or if you come across a mistake in the pattern please leave a message in the comment section below.

HEAD:
Remember if you use safety eyes to put them in before closing up the head. I found these particular eyes in a thrift store and believe they are a 9-10mm. I normally use 7.5mm eyes in the Bigfoot characters. 8mm would work great too

1) magic circle with 6sc (6)
2) 2sc in each st (12)
3) 1sc then 2sc in next st (18)
4) 3sc in first st, 1sc in next 8st, 3sc in next st, 1sc in last 8st (22)
5) 1sc in each st
6) 2sc in first st, 1sc in next 10st, 2sc in next st, 1sc in last 10st (24)
7-10) 1sc in each st for 4 rows
11) 1sc in next 2st then 2tog (18)
12)1sc then 2tog (12)
stuff head while pushing the stuffing into the sides of the head as you stuff
13) 2tog 6times (6)
Finish off

EARS:
remember to ch1 at the end of every row before turning for rows 2-14
1) ch 5
2-4) starting with the 2nd ch from the hook, 1sc in each for 3 rows (4)
5) 1sc then 2tog then 1sc (3)
6-8) 1sc in each for 3 rows
9) 2tog then 1sc (2)
10-12) 1sc in each for 3 rows (2)
13) 2tog (1)
14) 1sc then finish off leaving a long tail to weave along the edge with.

Once I weaved the tail along the edge, I held the tip of the ear with my fingers while I tugged on the yarn tail a bit to give the ear some shape. I had to straighten out the tip while I kept working at it. When I was happy with the shape I knotted the tail off at the base of the ear to keep that shape.

You could also make an inside for the ear by making a slightly smaller shape of a different color and sewing that to the inside of the ear. The face part is up to you. I used safety eyes for mine and also embroidered the nose and mouth in with crochet thread #10. But you could use a number of different things for the face from buttons to felt. The choices are endless. Just keep in mind choking hazards when giving the doll to a small child.

BODY:
1) magic circle with 6sc (6)
2) 2sc in each st (12)
3) 1sc in next st, 2sc in next st (18)
4) 1sc in next 2st, 2sc in next st (24)
5-7) 1sc in each st for 3 rows
8) 1sc in next 2st then 2tog (18)
9) 1sc in each st
10) 1sc then 2tog (12)
stuff body
11) 2tog 6 times, sl st into next st and finish off (6) leave long tail for sewing. Sew head and body together

  1. Sharon, what an adorable bunny, I'm currently working on another bunny pattern, but have put that on the side while I work on Coraline, and my pattern testing project.

    I'll be sure to add this amigurumi bunny to my list too. I believe I'll embroider the eyes.

    With my excess amigurumi, I'm saving them, and will distribute them this Christmas through one of my church's ministries. The amigurumi toys will be stocking stuffers, and I'll add a few more items.

    Eventually I'll need to add myself to the equation and make something for myself. I enjoy sharing with others.

    1. Opal, always so wonderful to read your messages! I have by complete accident designed the Bigfoot collection. I started with a tiny elephant I designed with crochet thread and felt it would be wonderful made bigger so my daughter could hug it, lol and so I did that and the rest of the characters began to emerge in my mind as I went along. Funny how these things happen!

      I too have started thinking of different amigurumi dolls/toys for Christmas. It is never too early to start! I also want to make something extra special for my mother. I'm thinking a blanket in her favorite color :)

      I have made myself tiny thread bears to fit in my dollhouse so I have now treated myself and am happy for it, lol

      Blessings to you and yours and until we chat again,

      Sharon

    1. Hello there! They are, what I would call easy amigurumi but for someone who knows the basics of sewing them together and all that. I'm not sure I could say for sure what age a person should be because it depends on how well they can pick up the basics of crochet. I should say this pattern would be easy for an advanced beginner. I hope that helps!

      And good idea on the tail :)
