Bear Made With Crochet Thread

This little dollhouse teddy bear was made when I was just learning how to make tiny amigurumis. I think he turned out very cute and he has been made by many who love him. I've seen quite a few out there made with all different colors, I chose pink to make it easier for those to see the stitches in the video tutorial. Click here for Video tutorial

st = stitch
sc = single crochet
2tog = 2 stitches together
ch1 = chain one

Special notes: This is my 3rd miniature bear I've ever made so I'm no expert for sure. But I wanted to give it a try so I can fill my dollhouses with miniature crochet characters! This pattern will give you a basic bear and the video tutorial to go with the written pattern. I used crochet thread #10 and a 1.25 mm hook and worked in continuous rounds. Have any questions or if you come across a mistake in the pattern please leave a message in the comment section below.

BODY:
1) magic circle with 6sc (6)
2) 2sc in each st (12)
3) 1sc in next st, 2sc in next st (18)
4) 1sc in next 2st, 2sc in next st (24)
5-6) 1sc in each st for 2 rows
7) 1sc in next 2st, then 2tog (18)
8) 1sc in next 2st, then 2tog (1sc in last 2st) (14)
9) 1sc in next 2st, then 2tog (1sc in last 2st) (11)
10) 2tog then 1sc in next st (7)
Stop here and stuff the body. The head and body are one piece so this is where we start the head part
11) 2sc in each st (14)
12) 2sc in each st (28)
13) 1sc in next 4st, then 2tog (1sc in last 4st) (24)
14) 1sc in next 2st, then 2tog (18)
15) 1sc then 2tog (1sc in last 2st) (14)
stop and stuff the head
16+) 2tog until you you can't work the st anymore, from there close the hole with a needle then hide the remaining thread down in the body

ARMS make 2:
1) magic circle with 6sc (6)
2-6) Isc in each st for 5 rows (6)
7) 2sc in each st (12)
8) 1sc in each st
*no need to stuff arms
9) 2tog for one row. Close up any opening left with needle, shape hand a bit, cut free leaving long tail for sewing. Pull remainder thread up and out the other end of arm, use that to sew arm to body.

LEGS make 2:
1) magic circle with 6sc (6)
2-7) Isc in each st for 6 rows
8) 2sc in each st (12)
9) 1sc in each st
10) 2tog for one row. Stuff leg
11) 2tog twice then stuff remainder of foot. Close up any opening left with needle, shape foot as much as you can. Cut free and leave long tail for sewing. Pull thread up through leg and out the other end while pulling the bottom of the foot flat.

EARS make 2:
1) magic circle with 7sc (7) it is easier to do the next round if you start here with 7stc
2) ch1 turn, 2sc in next 6st (12)
finish off and sew to head

I stitched the nose in with black crochet thread. The eyes are tiny beads that I sewed on with clear thread.

    Ms Ojala, this is the first time i've made anything using crochet other than a blanket and the first time i've successfully used a pattern. Your video's made it easy to follow, thank you very much! I just made a blue and white bear and he's adorable. Since he's my first and I'm sentimental I called him Eddie. Thanks!!!

  7. hi! i just wanna ask if it's okay to use a .95 mm hook? what is the effect if i use that kind of hook? thanks!

    1. oh, I think so! If you can comfortable use it with your thread then the only difference would be a slightly smaller bear. The best thing to do is try a round or 2 and see how it feels. Hope that helps!
