Honey Pot Treasure Keeper,
Why a little Honey Pot? The idea came to me after designing a bear then I thought it would make a good gift idea. You could  put a little surprise inside, maybe hang it off the Christmas tree?
When my daughter was a little girl she absolutely loved little hiding boxes like this. She would have loved this little honey pot and would have had a bunch of them all filled up with all her little collections and rocks. She always had a collection of rocks that needed special storing, lol. The thought of it makes me smile.

Supplies:
worsted weight yarn for the pot, use 2 colors
worsted weight yarn in yellow for the honey
4mm hook
blunt end yarn needle for sewing
scissors
OPTIONAL:
a piece of cardboard. A piece of felt and fabric glue or tacky glue. Read more about these options in the special notes section located before the start of the pattern below.

Abbreviations:
st = stitch
sc = single crochet
dc = double crochet
BLO = back loops only
FLO = front loops only
ch1 = chain one
sl st = slip stitch
2tog = crochet 2 stitches together
f/o = finish off

How to read the rows that work  in the round: Mark off the last stitch and move that marker at the end of each row. Each row has a sequence. Example: 1sc then 2sc in next st means repeat that sequence 1sc then 2sc in next st followed by 1sc then 2sc in next st over and over to the end of that particular row. The number inside the parentheses ( ~ ) is the number of stitches you should have at the end of that particular row.

Special notes:
The honey drips and the lid are both optional details. You can add a bottom to the pot and also line it with felt or fabric if you so desire. This is also optional. The instructions for lining the pot are in the assembly section below. 

Honey drips: with yellow
1) ch7
2) starting in 2nd ch, 1sc in each ch (6) do not break free
3) ch5
4) starting in 2nd ch, 1sc in each ch (4) do not break free
5) ch4
6) starting in 2nd ch, 1sc in each ch (3)
7) ch2 and work to the left along the tops of the drips, 1dc in each space across. You should be able to get 5 or 6dc across.
f/o leaving a tail for sewing, weave in starting yarn tail.

Pot: Starting at the bottom with lighter color
1) magic circle  with 6sc (6)
2) 2sc in each st (12)
3) 1sc then 2sc in next st (18)
4) 1sc in the BLO for 1 row
5) 1sc in next 2st then 2sc in next st (24)
6-8) 1sc in each st for 3 rows
9) 1sc in next 5st then 2sc in next st (28)
10) 1sc in the next 26st, switch colors in next st, sl st last st (28)
11) 1sc in next 5st then 2tog (24)
12) 1sc in next 2st then 2tog (18)
13) 1sc in each st for 1 row
14) 1sc in the FLO for 1 row * You could also do 1hdc in the FLO instead of the sc.
sl st next st then f/o. weave in yarn tail

Pot lid TOP: with darker color
1) magic circle  with 6sc (6)
2) 2sc in each st (12)
3) 1sc then 2sc in next st (18)
4) 1sc in next 2st then 2sc in next st (24)
sl st next st and finish off leaving a tail.
Optional: Wrap the yarn tail around the edge of the lid, going through each st with every wrap. Knot off. You can weave it in after you get the bottom part sewn in.

Pot lid handle: with darker color
Pull the yarn through the center hole of row 1, make a bobble using 4dc then finish off and sew into place. Tie off yarn tails and cut short.

Pot lid Bottom: with darker color
1) magic circle  with 6sc (6)
2) 2sc in each st (12)
3) 1sc then 2sc in next st (18)
f/o leaving a tail for sewing. 

Assemble the lids:
Sew the wrong side of the bottom lid to the wrong side of the top lid. Knot off when done and hide yarn tails in between the lids. You can sew a small section of the kid to the pot so it's always on but you can open it.  If  you want to sew the lid on, set the lid aside and do the steps in the assembly section below first.
Please note the colors of the pot below do not match the instructions of the written pattern. I played around with different colors for this one pot.

Assemble the Pot: Follow the steps in order.

1) Sew the honey to the side of the pot over where the last row was finished off. The honey will hide the uneven parts there. Sew down to the tip of the drips so they don't curl upwards.

2) Place a piece of cardboard in the very bottom of the pot. If you cut it just a bit bigger than the bottom of the pot it will stay put. Glue a piece of felt over it first then hold it in the bottom while you pull the sides of the pot up around it.

3) OPTIONAL: If you want to line your pot cut a piece of felt about 2 inches wide and about 5 and 1/2 inches long. The ends should overlap just a bit. Test the sizing inside the pot before attempting to glue it in. Trim it to size as needed. Spread a fabric glue or a tacky glue around the pot on the inside. Use lightly, you don't want big globs of glue or it could seep through the yarn or the felt. Roll up the felt so you can slide it in without touching the glue. Once it's in, spread it open and press it into the sides of the pot. Check the top edges for any parts that are pulling away, add a small amount of glue where needed, press into the pot and leave it to dry.
