Crochet Tiny Zombie Bunny With Rotting Carrot Pouch

Hi everyone,
Today I'm bringing you something a little different for me, a zombie bunny!
You'll need the non-zombified version of the bunny here . I'll give you some ideas for zombie parts here on this page. These are ideas with instructions on how to make them. Feel free to use them all or play around with your own. There's no wrong way to zombify something, so have fun!

If you have trouble working with thread, no worries! You can follow the same pattern using yarn of your choice. The green bunny pictured below was made with Red Heart Comfort yarn and a size 4mm hook.

You'll find in the pattern below:
dangly eye
dangly heart
leg with bone
short arm
guts
wounds and blood splatters
exposed ribs
how to rot the carrot

Please note:

The brain is not in the pattern.

Supplies:

read through the pattern, some of these supplies you won't need. It depends on what you make.
embroidery floss in white and red (or split yarn)
regular ww white yarn
white glue
paint and/or felt pen in green, black and blue
blunt end yarn needle with work for most of it. A sharp end needle will make things easier for you, choose one with a large enough eyelet to get your floss or yarn through it.
scissors
1.5mm steel crochet hook
The same size hook you made your bunny with

Zombify the limbs before sewing them to the body. Follow the assembly instructions as found at the bottom of the non-zombified version of the pattern.

Zombie Ears:
I made the ears exactly the same as found in the regular pattern. I added wounds and blood splatters using red embroidery floss. One bloody wound I also wrapped the ear color around each side of the red for added depth.
Play around with it. When you're done making a wound you can bring the thread tail out through the other side, make another wound or splatter then knot off and hide the thread tails inside the ear, or, cut them shorter and fray the ends.

Dangly Zombie Eye:
You can do the eye 2 different ways. If you don't want to crochet such a tiny ball, there's no need to, use method 1.

Method 1:
I prefer this method which gives you a smaller eye than the crochet version. With regular white yarn, start a knot but before you pull, wrap it around 7 times. Now pull both ends, slowly and guide the knotted part with your thumb nails to form a ball. Once you formed the ball (it wont be perfectly round) tie the 2 ends together in a tight knot.
To add in the red thread, knot one end and pull it through the center. Cut the 2 white tails and the red tail but to keep it from unraveling you'll need to add some tacky glue and rub it in. Once it's dry, use black paint or felt pen to dab on a pupil which also covers up the red knot.

Method 2: crochet an eyeball with one strand of embroidery floss and a 1.5mm steel hook:
1) loop with 6sc
2-4) 1sc in each st for 3 rows
f/o and weave in and out of the FLO of the remaining stitches. Before you pull the thread tail to close the gap, stuff the eye. I just stuffed it with the starting yarn tail. Pull and knot off. Hide thread tail inside eye. Now you can attach a red thread for sewing it to the head. I used the same red thread to make a wound on the back of the head.

Dangly Zombie Heart:
with one strand of red embroidery floss and a 1.5mm steel hook.
1) loop with 6sc
2) 1sc in each st
3) 1sc in next 2st then 2sc in next st (8)
4-5) 1sc in each st for 2 rows
f/o leaving a long tail for sewing. Weave in and out of the remaining stitches but before pulling to close the gap, stuff the heart with the starting yarn tail. Pull and knot off. Insert your hook and pull the thread tail through and chain about 5 or so. f/o. On one heart I added in blue thread for veins and on the other I added veins in with blue felt pen. I like the looks of the pen better.

Zombie Arm:
This zombiefied arm is shorter than the regular arm.
1) magic circle or adjustable loop with 6st (6)
2-3) 1sc in each st for 2 rows
4) 1hdc in next 2st then sl st next st and f/o leaving a tail for sewing. do not stuff. For the blood part I wrapped red embroidery floss around the bottom of the arm. To make a bit of an extra splatter, knot off and cut the thread leaving a length that you can fray when you're done. Pull some white through and wrapped it in the center of the blood to make it look like a bone sticking out.

Zombie Leg with bone:
starting with white in the same yarn/thread weight as what you made your bunny with and using the same hook size. You can also hold 2 strands of embroidery floss together or split yarn.
1) magic circle with 6sc (6)
2-3) 1sc in each st for 2 rows
4) 1sc in next 5st then change to leg color on last st (6)
5-6) 1sc in each st for 2 rows
7) 1hdc in next 2st then sl st next st and f/o leaving a tail for sewing
no need to stuff legs. You can leave the bone as is or add the knobby parts on either side as I did.
Knobby parts of bone:
The part of the leg that was finished off with hdcs is the outside of the leg. Think of the hdcs as the hip. The knobby parts of the bone should be placed as pictured, on either side.

Using white and a yarn needle: bring the thread trough the side of the bone near the very bottom of the bone and wrap around and around, pulling tight each time. Wrap until you have a good sized knob.

Bring the thread to the other side and do the same. When you're all done, wrap the thread vertically and tightly, in between the knobs to shape the bone a bit more. Knot off and hide the thread tails inside the leg.

Do as you wish to decorate. I stitched red embroidery floss around the color change part, then on the top part of the red I stitched a row of the leg color. for added depth

Zombie Guts:
I couldn't find the right shade of thread so I split some pink yarn.
Chain 15. Make sure the starting thread tail is long enough to sew into the body. Weave the finishing yarn tail in and out of the chain all the way up to the starting yarn tail. Then pull until the chain is all bunched up.

You can sew it onto the body and leave it hanging or do what I did and stitch both ends to the body. After it was sewn in I lightly colored it with a red felt pen, just lightly. I also stitched in red embroidery thread around the guts.

Exposed ribs:
with white embroidery floss, stitch in 2 horizontal lines where ribs would normally go. Outline the white with black/and or red. Once done that part, outline that whole area with the bunny body color for added depth.

The Rotting Carrot Pouch:
I used my small carrot pouch, pattern found here. I rubbed in some green with a felt pen then brushed that area to make it fuzzy and a bit gross.
