The Old Lady Who Swallowed Flies

Hello again!

If you popped in earlier today you would have already seen that today I'm posting my plastic Easter egg projects. Earlier I posted, "Frog Catches Flies" and I said I had 2 more to post. So here's my 2nd post and the 3rd will be up shortly.

I'm sure most of you recognized the "Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly". I remember it from my own childhood! In fact I can hear the song now,

There was an old lady who swallowed a fly
I don't know why she swallowed a fly - perhaps she'll die!
There was an old lady who swallowed a spider,
That wriggled and wiggled and tickled inside her;
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly;
I don't know why she swallowed a fly - Perhaps she'll die!
written by Rose Bonne

I did start to make a spider but quickly realized his long legs would be a problem. But don't count the spider out just yet, I might come up with something to get the spider to swallow the fly and still fit in that tummy.

There will be a pattern but not until after Easter's over so don't throw out those plastic eggs this year! We have things to make with them.

Update! Pattern has been posted here

  5. Hi Sharon,
    My youngest daughter used to drive me nuts singing that little song when she was little. Kindergarten through 3rd Grade she would sing it and then laugh. I can't wait for the pattern so I can make this for her next birthday. Especially since she has three children of her own now and one of them is singing the song.
    Thanks for all your great work as it has made a lot of children very happy.
