Original Little Bigfoot Bear Free Crochet Pattern

This amigurumi Bear can be made in under 2 hours depending how fast you are with the hook. I make mine in about one hour, not rushing just taking my time. After viewing this pattern please look for him on Ravelry too, there are many project photos posted which show him in every color of the rainbow.

st = stitch
sc = single crochet
2tog = 2 stitches together
ch1 = chain one
sl st = slip stitch

Special notes: I worked in continuous rounds with a 3.75mm hook and worsted weight yarn medium #4. Have any questions or if you come across a mistake in the pattern please leave a message in the comment section below. I used 7.5mm eyes for the bear pictured above. The bear below has oval character eyes which I found in a thrift store. I believe the size of those is between 9-10mm

HEAD:
Remember if you use safety eyes to put them in before closing up the head.

1) magic circle with 6sc (6)
2) 2sc in each st (12)
3) 1sc then 2sc in next st (18)
4) 3sc in first st, 1sc in next 8st, 3sc in next st, 1sc in last 8st (22)
5) 1sc in each st

7-10) 1sc in each st for 4 rows
11) 1sc in next 2st then 2tog (18)
12)1sc then 2tog (12)
stuff head while pushing the stuffing into the sides of the head as you stuff
13) 2tog 6times (6) Finish off

MUZZLE: Please click here for the revision to the muzzle. I added a smaller muzzle after this pattern was published

1) magic circle with 6sc (6)
2) 2sc in each st (12)
3-4) 1sc in each st
5) 1sc then 2tog (8)

  6. Thank you , Sharon, for sharing these lovely patterns with us. I have in mind to do some in special yarns - sparkly, variegated etc, and attach to key rings. I think they would look really nice like that. Would it make it difficult if using different plies of wool or thread?

    1. Hello! Thanks for the message... the only time I had trouble was trying to use a chenille yarn, I quit shortly after starting with it. I've made these guys with crochet thread and also acrylic thread and those worked out for me with a smaller hook of course. Sport weight yarn would work too! I've never worked with Sparkly yarn but I imagine that would work just fine.

      Keep me posted!

  12. Crazy...at one point I thought the body was really the head and visa versa, so that is how I made my bear. The ears seemed way too big so I did another crazy thing. I did not look at the pictures. Now I see where I made changes. It is a great pattern. Easy to use and learned how to deal with shapes.

    1. Hi there, the oval white eyes are called character eyes and I got those in a thrift store. The small blue ones are from a site online called "Animal Eyes- Lisa & Ed's Eyes and More"
      I've ordered from that site a few times now and they are awesome, s/h is great too. Hope that helps!

  16. Hi Sharon, I wrote a comment about this little guy in the wrong place. I sometimes think my 81 almost year old brain has turned too mush. First time that I have messed up one of you Amigurumis. I'm going to start all over again. I didn't do a good job of sewing him/her together. I realize what I did wrong now. The legs and feet keep on throwing me. They seem so much proportionately larger than the head and body. Taking a long hard look at the photo I can see that's how they are supposed to look. The legs didn't fit on the body. My stitch and row counts were correct. I think maybe I should have put more stuffing in the body. The tummy doesn't seem to be chubby enough. Is there a video tutorial on the Little Bigfoot Bear? I would love a brush up on sewing the head to the body. I saw the video about sewing the legs on. That was super. You are so talented. I love your patterns. They are so well done and easy to follow. Your friend from Amigurumi Land. Dorothy
