Oh, Fat Einstein! Where Are You?

Hello Dear Friends!

Today I just want to address something that has been bothering me and it's not you it's me! Over the last few years I have come out with many patterns and I post them up with all excitement and the greatest hopes they will be loved and enjoyed.. this is my hope still :)

And from time to time in between these patterns I will come up with an extra idea or a thought that I get really excited about and of course I want to share
them with you right away so I think to myself with just a little spare time I can do it!
Then in all that excitement and with every  good intention  I tell you I will share these extra things but then something will happen and I just can't get that promise  filled at that time.  And believe me this bothers me, this has kept me awake at nights!

This year I'm learning to say "I don't know when" OR "one day when I get the chance" because my life and my time is just not my own, I have children. I also have parents that I help out and all my other duties that life requires. So most of all my blog work and my videos are done when I should be sleeping but I work late at night when I can hog all the time to myself!

Anyway, here's a good example of what I'm talking about;  at the start of this year I posted a Wybie pattern and while filming his video tutorial I ended up making an Einstein doll with the same exact pattern. This wasn't planned, it just worked out that way since I used lighter colors for tutorial purposes.. well that was great and I could have left it at that and with the one pattern you get 2 different characters! But no, I had to take it a bit further and I wanted to redesign Einstein's body and make him fatter and release that pattern too so I make this announcement to you all and I had the time to do it then bam, the school phones and my daughter has to be rushed to the hospital! She broke her leg, and broke it in a way that needed to be closely watched as she might of needed corrective surgery. So for the next 2 months we were in and out of the hospital. And with us spending so much time at the hospital I was overwhelmed with inspiration by the surroundings and before I knew it I was designing a crochet wheelchair, an IV drip pole and a sick sock monkey and I have to add that when I get hit with inspiration I have to go with it, I can't fight it! And at this same time our lives completely changed since my daughter was almost completely dependent on me to help her with her day to day new life in a cast, and my time was even more limited.  So Einstein got put on the back burner.

Once I was back on track I began to fulfill an earlier promise of redesigning all my Little Bigfoot patterns and all my time now has been dedicated to them. I'm very happy to say I've gotten 5 of them redesigned and each one has a video tutorial too! And aside from them I've also posted extra patterns and tutorials as the inspiration hit.

So you see, just like I got to the Little Bigfoot patterns like I promised I would,  I will also redesign Einstein's body and I will absolutely get to him because I know myself and I will not ever feel completely at rest until I get all the *boxes checked* so please be patient with me while I catch up with myself!

And in the meantime you can still make him with the original pattern. Other people have made him and they love him just as he is..   and his new pattern will get done just as soon as time and inspiration allows <3

One day at a time and onwards and upwards we go :)

Have a wonderful day and thanks for  understanding!

  1. wow - what a busy person you are, and you certainly don't need to apologise. Everything that you post is lie a little gift from you to us, and I for one truly appreciate all your efforts. You could sell you pattern, but you don't. You give them away freely to anyone who wants them and that in itself makes you a wonderful person. So you take as long as you need, and do what makes you happy….oh and don't get too hung up about ticking those boxes!

  2. Sharon, I agree wholeheartedly with The Little Stamper above!

Anything, anything that you post on your site is a bonus! It's all extra as far as I'm concerned and I'm sure I speak for most everyone. No apologies are ever needed.

You have given so much and it is so greatly appreciated. Your generosity is over and above and beyond, and "thank-you" just doesn't seem like enough.

I wish you were my neighbor! LOL

God's blessings on you for all you do!

  5. Hugs and Blessings to you!! Just have to tell you how amazing you are and how thankful I am.. I made your elephant for an elephant themed baby shower I attended yesterday, needless to say, everyone loved it! I cannot adequately express my thanks and gratitude for the time and effort you put into developing and recording your patterns and for selflessly giving them away for all to enjoy. Since I am a visual learner, your video helped me immensely. I cannot wait to start a monkey for my daughters baby shower in September. Thanks and Blessings <3 (Michele)

  8. I've been working on my Amigurumi skills for about 2 years now and just stumbled across your site a few months ago. I was looking for a pig pattern for a Christmas gift that is intended for my boyfriends sister. I almost gave up before I stumbled across your pattern. In comparison your pattern and the resultant doll were both VERY high quality compared to what I had been seeing.

I agree with The Little Stamper, don't worry so much about the checkboxes. Although, as a box checker myself I understand the sense of satisfaction checking one off gives. :)

Keep up the good work. Post things as you go. The people who matter will wait patiently for your next inspired offering,

Thank you for your Patterns and for not charging for them.

  9. Wow you are toooo much Sharon. Please take care of yourself. Your fans understand you are so busy. I hope enough of your followers are sending in a donation ( doesn't have to be huge) just to let you know we don't take you for granted and that you too have to buy yarn. I am not related and just know Sharon through her work. You are such a great teacher. I was struggling with the Bigfoot Bunny Legs. I just didn't seem to have enough room for them on the body and then I thought go to the tutorial again to see what I was missing. I know now what to do but wonder how you keep your pins to stay in mine keep popping out. Also have you ever heard of sewing the legs together at the top. Just over two sts. My son got me a book on Amigurumi and this is one of their suggestions. I don't want to mess up but I might try it on the bunny. I am just sewing her together now but had to review sewing on the legs. Thank you so much for giving me this whole new crocheting experience. Here's loads of Love

  10. Don't know if you noticed but you can give a small donation. Sharon doesn't ask awhile ago. I'm not involved in anyway but I am a fan and have made so many I felt guilty just using her patterns and her knowledge. Please don't think I'm being pushy. I just thought others might have not noticed. I'm an old age pensioner and was only able to give a small amount. As we all know a little bit helps.
