The Dragon Pattern On Youtube ~ Video Tutorial

Welcome Friends!

This is a very long pattern so I decided to break it down into videos for each part with a separate video for sewing everything together. This way the viewer can go to the video that contains the part they might be struggling with OR just make all the parts with me.

They are row by row tutorials but not exactly a crochet along. I show you how to do
each row then you pause the video and do it yourself. Start the video again when you are ready to move onto the next row.

My message to the beginner:
This is not the best pattern to start with if you have never crocheted before but that doesn't mean you can't do it! I have not left one thing out of the videos so please use what you need and skip over what you don't need. Most of all, take your time and relax. If you get frustrated, take breaks and come back when you feel ready to try again. Crochet takes practice. Each project you make it will get easier. This is definitely not a beginner's project but if you want to give it a go, I've done my very best to get you through. I would start with the head first then the legs next, after that do the tail. These 3 are most suited for someone who hasn't crocheted much.
Print off  the written pattern and follow along. The print friendly button is at the bottom of the page here
I added just a couple videos to this page but you can view the entire playlist of videos for this dragon right on youtube here. There's 14 videos in total. Get the supplies list from the written pattern.

  6. Dragon finger video
See here's the problem in the first finger video, the video momentarily stops or jumps it is not shown that first stitch placement and then the video comes back on when your finishing the second single crochet in the steps,
then it(the video) in it, it looks like you completely turn the whole arm piece( but you don't verbally say turn the whole arm piece,) then video says go into another stitch( this is where you mention it being wonky).
.That's all I have left to make the arms, fingers, legs, feet and stomachs cover, and I can put Dragon together! I'm eagerly hoping!( in the mean time I'm going to crochet the second arm. Sincerely cathy

  7. I just watched that part of the video, it doesn't skip ahead for me. I show the first stitch and I count them out too, 1-6.
Was that jump you're talking about a glitch on your end? I mean a glitch on youtube. Try again, I just watched the whole first finger and I didn't leave anything out.

  8. I wish I knew I've watched and watched when I try whatever I'm missing the finger will be going down into the arm not outward are we supposed to flip the arm somehow like I see in the video? You turn whole arm piece before you say to go into stitch again? Maybe you don't even realize you turn it? Video goes so fast. Anyway thanks for responding. That's all I have left to do . So where is the first insertion point? Behind the five stitches on the right?

    1. that is so weird. I just watched again, I do not see where I flip anything. I go slow and count the stitches as I go. You will have to turn the arm as you crochet but you do it while crocheting naturally, following the circle of the finger. The only thing I think of is you don't have the video speed set to normal. Do you see a gear setting on your screen while watching the video? There should be a little gear, it's down in the bottom, left side of the video. I'm viewing from a computer, I'm not sure how it looks from a mobile but click the gear (it's white and looks like a gear of an old pocket watch) and make sure the video is playing in normal speed. Other than that I have no idea how to help. I go slow, very slow for the first finger and I count the stitches out loud while showing how to do them. Sorry you are having troubles.

  9. Right when you say we're going to go into fifth stitch then video jumps then you flip piece somehow after you've put the stitch and say now we need to go back in.that first placement

    1. you count 5 behind the hook and insert into that 5th one, pull the yarn through and make a single crochet. The video jumps slightly but I didn't flip anything.

    2. Maybe. I put too much stuffing in my body

    3. I now what you are talking about when she counts back 5 sts to the right to make her first st she has to cross over from the front to the inside back of the opposite side to make the first finger into a continuous round and that is the same st you make the sixth st into and yes it does turn but that is just the natural way of crocheting to the right Hope this helps

  10. Hi - great pattern, love this dragon, making it for my nephew for Christmas; but.... nowhere do you say that they wings need to be connected differently (e.g. main body colour to secondary colour) one must be right sides together and the other wrong sides together. Is that correct? Because if you don't you cannot match the wings up...

    1. I show how to sew them together on video. I didn't worry about slight differences in the wings, I really don't think that matters much. Once they're sewn on, slight differences didn't stand out to me.
Scroll up, click the link that will bring you to the video series on youtube, go the wings video and fast forward to about 16:12. Both wings are sewn together the exact same way.
      Hope that helps
