With or without Egg,

You can stuff the alien with stuffing or add in a real egg or a plastic egg Size of egg is given further down this page

Supplies:
worsted weight yarn in any color
4.0mm hook
Use a smaller hook if you crochet fairly loose. If you crochet tight you can use a 4.5mm
blunt end yarn needle for sewing
scissors
1 real egg, stuffing or 1 plastic Easter egg (similar in size to a real egg)
1 pipe cleaner
something for the eye like a piece of felt, crochet or paint, a button. Whatever works as an eye. I used a large googly eye and hot glued it on the face.

Abbreviations:
st = stitch
sc = single crochet
sl st = slip stitch
dc = double crochet
ch2 = chain 2
f/o = finish off

Magic ring:
Many parts of this amigurumi begin with a magic ring. I have 2 short video tutorials that will show you 2 different methods of making a magic ring. Use the one that is
easiest for you. View 1st method here and 2nd method here.

How to read the rows:
Add a maker at the end of row 2 and move that marker each time you finish a row. Each row has a sequence. Example: 1sc then 2sc in next st means repeat that sequence 1sc then 2sc in next st followed by 1sc then 2sc in next st over and over to the end of that row. When you land on the marker you should be putting in 2sc. The number inside the parentheses ( ~ ) is the number of stitches you should have at the end of that particular row.

Starting at the top and working down to the bottom of the body,
1) magic circle with 6st (6)
2) 2sc in each (12)
3) 1sc then 2sc in next st (18)
4-12) 1sc in each st for 9 rows
13) ch2 then 2dc in next st, sl st next 2 st, repeat that, ch2 then 2dc in next st then sl st next 2 st. repeat that sequence all the way around. f/o and weave in yarn tail.

Decorate the face however you want to, here's how I did mine:
Using a pipe cleaner, I poked through the inside of the head, cut the ends shorter then rolled the ends into a ball. I didn't do anything to secure the pipe cleaner as it stayed in place fine for me but you can sew it in place. A couple of holding stitches with yarn will work great, knot off on the inside of the head.
The mouth was done with a strand of red yarn, doubled and knotted off inside the head. I chained a length of green yarn (ch7) and put that over the red yarn, knotted the yarn tails inside the head.
I finished off the face by gluing on one large googly eye.

Push the egg or stuffing inside the body and you're done!
