Bunny Ears For Valentine Bear

Since releasing my Valentine Teddy Bear pattern I've received numerous requests for a Bunny Valentine. I did think of it before myself. To add the ears is easy enough for sure so here you go! You'll need the Teddy Bear pattern here. Look for the green print friendly button at the bottom of the page. And of course you'll just leave out the ears and instead use the ear pattern below.

You will need a small amount of yarn and 4 pipe cleaners. The pipe cleaners will make the ears stand up and poseable (pipe cleaners are optional).

Make 2 Using the same color use used for the heart feet
1) magic circle with 6sc (6)
2) 2sc in each (12)
3) 1sc then 2sc in next st (18)
4) 1sc in next 5st then 2sc in next st (21)
5) 1sc in next 6st then 2sc in next st (24)
6-7) 1sc in each st for 2 rows
8) 1sc in next 6st then 2tog (21)
9-10) 1sc in each st for 2 rows
11) 1sc in next 5st then 2tog (18)
12-13) 1sc in each st for 2 rows
14) 1sc in next 4st then 2tog (15)
15-16) 1sc in each st for 2 rows
17) 1sc in next 3st then 2tog (12)
18-19) 1sc in each st for 2 rows
f/o leaving a tail for sewing. Loosely fold 2 pipe cleaners in half and push the bend all the way to the top of the ear. Cut off any excess. You can add a stitch or 2 at the top of the ears to hold the pipe cleaners in place. Pin the ears in place and make sure you are happy with the placement before sewing them in.

If you'd like to add a pom pom tail, I do have a video for making one right here
And I also have another bunny pattern if you're looking for one and that's right here

I hope you enjoyed the pattern!

  2. Sharon, this is way off topic but I couldn't find a way to contact you in any other way. So sorry about that. I have one question. do you have a method on your blog or know of somewhere on the web that addresses attaching legs to dolls that will enable them to sit down. IOW, somewhat floppy legs as you'd find on a rag doll. Also, I love the feet you created for Coraline and want to crochet a rag doll with those kind of feet. Seems so simple but I'm struggling to find some clear directions.

Thanks so much if you're able to address this. If not, I totally understand.

    Thanks so much!

    1. Hi Linda, I'm not sure what you mean exactly... the Valentine Bear does have floppy legs that allow the bear to sit down unless you mean ones that also bend at the knees? If so you just would have to sew across the knee section to create 2 sections in the leg and they would then bend at that point. There's a blog that designs more dolls than I do called AmigurumiBB and she makes some of the prettiest dolls I've seen. Check it out here and scroll down the page to see them all. Best of luck to you :)
