Little Bigfoot Piggy 2014 With Video

Little pig, little pig where have you been?

Well, in your yarn bag of course! And another Little Bigfoot animal has been revised and given a video tutorial, yayhooo! I can't believe it but I now have 5 of these patterns all done with videos!

For those of you that are new to my blog,
I have been redesigning all my Little Bigfoot animals that I originally designed in 2012 and each animal is getting an updated look with a more user friendly pattern and each one also gets a full video tutorial as well. Aside from the giraffe, each new animal is about 8-9 inches tall and the old design they were between 5-6 inches tall

Written patterns and video tutorials now available in this new 2014 series:
You can see and still use the original pig pattern from 2012 right here
Scroll down this page to view the new piggy pattern.

For this pattern I also made some glasses for the pig, those are in a separate video tutorial here

How to read the rows: Each row has a sequence as given below. Example: 1sc then 2sc in next st means repeat that sequence 1sc then 2sc in next st followed by 1sc then 2sc in next st over and over to the end of that particular row. The number inside the parentheses ( ~ ) is the number of stitches you should have at the end of that particular row.
Add in a marker at the end of row 2 and move that marker at the end of every row.

Supplies:
worsted weight acrylic yarn ~ I used Red Heart Comfort Color Code: 3133
4.5mm hook - use a smaller hook if you see gaps in your stitches
blunt end yarn needle for sewing
scissors
100% polyester stuffing
felt, paint, buttons, or yarn for eyes or safety eyes (7mm-10mm eyes work fine)
fabric glue and red felt for the tongue

This pattern uses the following stitches:
st = stitch
sc = single crochet
sl st = slip stitch
2tog = crochet 2 stitches together
BLO = back loops only
f/o = finish off

Tail:
1) ch16 - begin with a long starting tail that you can sew into the body when done
2) 1sc then 2tog
f/o leaving a tail for sewing.
The tail should naturally curl but if not then hold one end of the tail and twist the other end.

Assembly:
If you assemble the doll in the order I give you then you will not have to worry so much about centering the different parts as much. The time in which the pieces are sewn in are listed in the video order just above the pattern (scroll up)

1) Sew the arms on. Sew directly under the head or 1 row down
2) sew on the legs. How you sew the legs on is up to you. I wanted this pig to be in a standing position so I sewed them on in a way the doll stands up. Turn the doll upside down and pin the legs in place then whip stitch the top edge of the legs to the body. View the video on how to do this.
3) sew on the tail
4) sew on the muzzle - place top of muzzle just under the 11th row
5) sew in the mouth if you made one
6) sew on the ears
7) add in the eyes - I put the safety eye stem in between the 10th and 11th row with about 7 or 8 st between them. The French Knots are sitting on the 10th row with the same distance as the safety eyes.

  8. Really really thanks for your generous sharing. This is my first time to learn crocheting. I followed every steps on your video and successfully made a small cute piglet. I just used 3.5mm hook this time. I hope to make a really big big one. May I ask how can I make a big pig same as this pattern, but double in size?
