Crochet Carrot Pouch Tutorial

Crochet Carrot Pouch,

Here's a great little gift idea for the little ones this Easter! I designed this one to hold one Easter Egg Bunny and there's still room for some treats too. But of course you can make this cute little pouch anytime of the year and stuff it with some fun foods for your child's lunch or to take to daycare with a healthy snack inside. My children always loved their snacks inside something fun and colorful.

This is a relatively easy pattern good for the beginner and it comes with a full video tutorial as well. Keep scrolling down this page for the pattern and video link.

Supplies:
worsted weight yarn
I used Red Heart Comfort Yarn in Emerald 3233, and Tango 3232
4mm or 4.5mm hook
blunt end yarn needle
scissors

Abbreviation chart:
st = stitch
sc = single
dc = double crochet
sl st = slip stitch
f/o = finish off

Magic ring:
Many parts of this amigurumi begin with a magic ring. I have 2 short video tutorials that will show you 2 different methods of making a magic ring. Use the one that is
easiest for you. View 1st method here and 2nd method here.

How to read the rows:
Add a maker at the end of row 2 and move that marker each time you finish a row. Each row has a sequence. Example: 1sc then 2sc in next st means repeat that sequence 1sc then 2sc in next st followed by 1sc then 2sc in next st over and over to the end of that row. When you land on the marker you should be putting in 2sc. The number inside the parentheses ( ~ ) is the number of stitches you should have at the end of that particular row.

Full Carrot Pouch:

1) magic loop with 6sc (6)
2) 1sc then 2sc in next st (9)
3) 1sc in next 2st then 2sc in next st (12)
4-5) 1sc in each st for 2 rows
6) 1sc in next 2st then 2sc in next st (16)
7) 1sc in each st for 1 row
8) 1sc in next 3st then 2sc in next st (20)
9-10) 1sc in each st for 2 rows
11) 1sc in next 4st then 2sc in next st (24)
12-13) 1sc in each st for 2 rows
14) 1sc in next 5st then 2sc in next st (28)
15) 1sc in next 13st then 2sc in next st (30)
16) 1sc in next 14st then 2sc in next st (32)
17) 1sc in next 15st then 2sc in next st (34)
18) 1sc in each st for 1 row
19) 1sc in next 16st then 2sc in next st (36)
20) 1sc in next 17st then 2sc in next st (38)
21) 1sc in next 18st then 2sc in next st (40)
22-24) 1sc in each st for 3 rows switching to green on last st of row 24 and ch2
25) 1dc in each st around - work the yarn tails into the first few dc's to hide them
26) (join last st of row 25 and first st or row 26 with 1sc) now ch3 then 1sc in next st, repeating ch3 and 1sc all the way around
sl st next st and f/o weave in yarn tails

working the green edge as pictured:
1) your last dc goes here
2) your first sc goes here (no chain)
3) chain 3 then put in a sc in next st ~ repeat around

Tie To Close Up The Pouch:
With green ch 80 and f/o. I switched to a 3.75mm hook to make the chain. This isn't necessary but it will make a tighter looking chain. Weave chain in and out between the posts of row 25 all the way around.

And that's it! Now all you have to do is fill it up. I hope you enjoyed the pattern and if you made a pouch please post pictures on my facebook page, Amigurumi Freely

  4. I loved this pattern from the minute I saw it and can not wait to make them for my grandchildren. BUT I had a major problem finding orange yarn. I finally found it in AC MOORE after going to 4 other craft stores.Michaels told me it is an unusual color and not part of their normal inventory. What???????? I got the yarn this morning and plan on crocheting at least one today. I am so excited!
